Bridges of Hope provides training and seed money for women of Philippi, Lower Crossroads and Sweet Home Africa to start their own sewing, knitting and beading businesses as a means of self-support for them and their families.

Schooling for children at the Bridges Academy:

A boarding school for AIDS orphans that offers full-time care, feeding, educational and medical needs of 50 children.

Bridges of Hope recently received an award from the Western Cape Education Dept earlier this year, commending them for having a 100% graduation rate (which is very rare in South Africa).

Bridges of Hope shares our belief that it is possible for individuals who live in extremely dire conditions to find hope—to dream about and actually change their future.  The Four Truffles brand was built on this philosophy, as was this nonprofit organization.  We strive to serve as a circle of goodness and empowerment for women and children around the world and our partnership with Bridges of Hope helps action our vision.

We will continue our ongoing Do Good efforts to empower women and provide relief for orphans by way of financial aid and donation of personal care products throughout the year.  Although we don’t see much of Haiti in the news nowadays, please continue to keep them in your thoughts and help in anyway you can.  There’s still so much to be done.  Women and children are so vulnerable to violence.  Here’s an article on actress Nicole Kidman’s campaign to especially protect women and children.

“Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good™”

The highly anticipated event boasted a plethora of pretty people with an eco-chic conscience from the media, retail world, charitable circles and Four Truffles fan base.  All enjoyed complimentary organic mini-Mani’s and munchies while witnessing the lovely Mary Payne from Ladies Home Journal award philanthropic Four Truffles founder, Ana Soriano, with the “Do Good” Stamp honor for the brands’ efforts to empower women and children locally and globally.

Four Truffles sources the natural ingredients in their 4T PDN Complex™ from female operated collectives in Africa and then donates 10% of net sales to local and international charities that help disadvantaged women and children. “I’m a big believer in paying it forward,” says Ana.

The event showcased Four Truffles beneficial bodycare products in each treatment:

1. Four Truffles Creamy Body Wash lusciously lathered to remove impurities, hydrate, soften and scent skin with the 4T PDN Complex™ that combines mild milk-based cleansers with Argan Oil, Shea Butter and Olive Oil with Aloe to cleanse and prep skin.

2.  Four Truffles Body Smoother was used as a gentle and effective sugar scrub that incorporates the 4T PDN Complex™ to gently smooth away dry, dull surface skin cells to reveal a fresh glow while botanical oils pampered skin, leaving it sinfully soft, smooth and moisturized.

The path to Looking Good and Feeling Good is a well balanced healthy lifestyle, which includes changing the way you think about what you eat, drink and what you do with what you put inside your body.  While we’ve talked about secrets to healthy skin by way of beauty products and regimen, I’d like to discuss fitness and Yoga as I’m now looking into incorporating Yoga into my weekly routine.

While there are many reasons why Yoga is good for you, the general consensus I’ve heard from peers, medical doctors and naturapaths is that it’s therapeutic.   I’ve been having back pains and recently went through a series of doctor check ups to make sure all vitals are working properly.  Luckily they are, but I did learn how important it is to make sure I see the doctor, especially the OB/GYN for preventive measures as breast and ovarian cancer are so common nowadays for many women.   What it all boils down to is that I need to get back in shape, hence one of the things on my list is to give Yoga a try.

I’ll be checking out some yoga classes from the South Bay all the way to Santa Monica.  I discovered Yoga Earth who seems to be a good resource and community for all things Yoga.  They recently shared an article from the Richmond County Daily Journal about “Study: Quality of life improves for cancer patients who practice yoga” I found this article interesting especially for women who are going through breast cancer.  Yoga in this instance helped a woman going through radiation treatment to relax and sleep.

Ana Soriano, the founder and owner of the brand, had a mentor that used to talk about finding treasures. He called it “Truffle Hunting” as they were rare, hard to find, and exciting once you uncover them.   His kind of treasure hunting was a metaphor for business opportunities but Ana realized hers were more spiritual.

She chose the brand name, Four Truffles, to represent the philosophy and function of her treasure hunt. Spiritually, the four treasures represent inner beauty – Love, Hope, Faith & Eternity, while outer beauty is represented and attainable from the performance driven natural 4T PDN Complex.

Four Truffles aims to share the meaningful stories such as the above with our customers from the ingredient selection to creating beneficial products that help skin and empower women.  We want to help people understand what it means to be beautiful inside and out. The argan tree bears fruits with a very hard kernel that contains seeds from which argan oil is extracted.  In Morocco only women are allowed to prepare the oil for their use in cooking and ancestral beauty rituals.  Every bit of the argan kernel is used even the animals benefit as they eat the seeds for nourishment.

Weather has been great now that it’s spring, so we’re back to our routine of walking our daughter to school.  We save money on gas and help limit pollution from driving our car.  It’s also a great time to enjoy nature: My daughter stops and smells the flowers & listens to the birds sing.  We enjoy our trails and the bluffs while simultaneously getting a good work out.  And yes, the husband is very conscious about keeping our community clean.  We never end our walks without a bag filled with litter…
