Why Argan Oil?

Have you ever noticed that once something comes into your awareness that you hear or notice it all the time afterwards?  Some people call it serendipity but I’m not so sure that word fully captures the hyper-awareness familiarity coincidence.  Nonetheless, I have a new one for you.  Argan Oil.  You may have heard of it recently so you are currently experiencing this phenomenon or this may be your first time but I trust that you will now start noticing and seeing this memorable ingredient in your own horizon on many an occasion – as you should.

Argan oil is a gift from the Argania Spinosa trees of Morocco that flows with life affirming nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins.  While most ingredients seem to have 15 minutes of fame, Argan Oil has been a trusted ancient beauty secret of the women of Morocco for over 150 years.  These women work tirelessly to protect and save the argan forest, where the beloved argan tree, also known as the Tree of Life, flourishes as one of Morocco’s prized jewels, providing nourishment for cosmetics, cuisine and the community.

Local women joined forces to form cooperatives that use traditional means of harvesting and producing argan oil by hand to preserve the trees, land and its resources. It is the only acceptable way of acquiring the oil to this day because it preserves the argan forest and provides socioeconomic benefits to the community, especially the women. It is a major source of income and opportunity for personal growth for these local women who leverage both to access better education and business skills that allow them to flourish, be confident and provide for their families and community.  What woman can’t support that?  Not this one!

To me, the heartfelt story of the women who harvest the oil is just one of the many reasons why it’s so beneficial but the major reason why Argan oil has gained an international reputation as nature’s anti-aging skin care product is that its packed with naturally occurring antioxidants, essential fatty acids, proteins, carotenoids, ferulic acid, sterols, polyphenols, and contains remarkably high levels of vitamin E.  I know that is a jumble of skin care jargon but I will break it down for you so keep reading.
