One of the key ingredients we love is our Ecocert Certified Organic Shea Butter.  We love it so much that we use it in all of our key products – body butter, body smoother and soon to be released creamy body wash.

If you’ve tried one of our products then you know how hydrating and nourishing they are.  Shea butter is one ingredient that contains deep-healing properties.  Combined with Ecocert certified argan and olive oil , you will surely notice the effects of our products on your skin.

The organic shea butter we use is harvested from the West African Village of Burkina Faso.   Shea butter is made from shea nuts, the fruit of the shea karite tree which is only found in Africa.  It is a resource of great nutritional and economic importance across 16 countries of sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea and Mali as well as Burkina Faso.

Our suppliers have Ecocert certified over 100,000 shea trees that are harvested by women who adhere to traditional methods.  They use every single part of the nut possible.  Locally, the nuts are used for cooking while the paste and butter is exported for use as an ingredient in the food and cosmetic industries in Europe and the United States.

It’s such a joy to see the women in the village chant, sing and dance around harvest time.  They celebrate and enjoy the many benefits of nature’s resource, including the socio-economic freedom they’ve gained from partnering with distributors who help facilitate their daily workload in order to improve their overall quality of life.  Through this partnership, these local women now have the opportunity to provide financial and educational freedom for themselves and their children.
