Going Au Naturale…? Knowledge is Power!

The demand for natural and organic products is clearly growing and as expected the number of beauty products in this space is keeping up with the demand.

With this in mind, we want to share some important information with you about this growing market, and how the Four Truffles Body Care Systems provide the benefits you seek and expect in choosing your natural and organic beauty products.  Every month, our newsletter will cover a topic that will help inform our customers about natural and organic beauty products.  So let’s start with some basic information…

What does Organic Ingredients mean?
An ingredient is deemed organic if it has been cultivated using organic farming methodologies.  Quite simply put, the farming methods were without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.  In addition, no trace of genetically modified organisms must be present, and the origin from where it was produced must be traceable and identified.

What does Ecocert mean?
ECOCERT Ⓡ is an internationally recognized organic certification that guarantees the genuine practice of environmental respect throughout the formulation and manufacturing of a product.

The company was founded in 1991 and the philosophy behind the organization is based on strong ethical values that is traceable from the agro-organic associative movement of the 1970’s.

In Europe, ECOCERT Ⓡ is considered to be the most important organization in setting the criteria in natural and organic cosmetics.  We’ve listed below their requirements for an organic product:

* A minimum of 10% of the ingredients must be certified organic
* At least 95% of the ingredients must be of vegetables/plant origin
* While the product may contain a maximum of 5% synthetic ingredients, none of these must be included on the negative list:

ECOCERT negative list includes:
* mineral oil and silicon
* synthetic emulsifiers like PEG (polyethyelene glycol)
* viscosity controlling agents like carbomer
* preservatives such as formaldehyde releasers, parabens or phenoxyethanol
* synthetic perfumes
* synthetic dyes
* synthetic solvents like propylene glycol

In addition, respect for man and the environment are key philosophies that complete the standards of receiving the ECOCERT seal of approval.
Social and environmental consciousness are top of consumers’ minds these days and ECOCERT help drive activities and projects that address these issues.

Here at Four Truffles, 3 of the key ingredients found in our 4T PDN complex are ECOCERT Ⓡ Certified Organic ingredients.   They are the argan oil, shea butter and olive. We’re currently working on publishing our ingredient listing which will include the source and benefits of each ingredient.  Our goal is to become your trusted natural skincare resource providing you with safe, best of natural & organic ingredients available and most importantly products that perform.

Four Truffles is a woman owned, women-run skin care brand created by women, for women and their families.   We believe that women are born with an innate sense of family, community and unity.  We strive to tie those elements together to help unify the world from the inside out – with the bonds of love, hope, faith and eternity.
