Argan Oil – a gift from the Tree of Life!
One of our key ingredients is the argan oil also known as the beauty secret of Moroccan women. In the beauty industry it’s INCI name is Lipofructyl Argan. The argan tree is indigenous to South Morocco. It is referred to as the “Tree of Life”, and can be found in the argan forest which is approximately 800,000 hectares with more than 20 million trees. This awesome, magnificent tree can live between 150 to 200 years – imagine that! It is also very resistant to the prevailing weather conditions in the region due to how its roots have spread widely and deeply into the ground. It can draw water from a depth of more than 30 meters. Another benefit the argan tree brings is that it has become a barrier against desertification.
The argan tree bears fruits with a very hard kernel that contains seeds from which argan oil is extracted. In Morocco only women are allowed to prepare the oil for their use in cooking and ancestral beauty rituals. Every bit of the argan kernel is used even the animals benefit as they eat the seeds for nourishment.
